There is a "club" in the basement that the hotel rents out for events, such as fraternity socials, prom stuff, small scale music gigs, etc. This might not be an issue for most people, though. Many of the rooms don't have a bathtub, just shower. I had to wait in the lobby until about 3:15 p.m., along with at least five other customers (on the positive side, they gave me a complimentary coupon for 2 drinks at the bar). If being directly in downtown Athens is desired, the Hilton Garden Inn is closer (though this hotel is certainly walkable) - Some service issues.for example, when I tried to check in at 2:30 p.m., I was told that the rooms hadn't yet been cleaned and inspected.
HOTEL INDIGO ATHENS ROOM TV
The positives of this hotel are: - Close to downtown Athens (10 minute or less walk $5 by taxi) - Rooms are different than the usual (wood floors walk-in shower without tub other minor style features that make the hotel more "hip") - Power saving features/"green" building design - Free parking, above ground as well as some underground - Cute lobby and bar/bistro area - Comfortable bed - Flat screen HD TV (though this is now fairly standard) The negatives are: - The wood floors seem to contribute to noise problems your can also hear people in the halls (doors opening and closing, housekeeping doing their work, people talking). Some of the exuberant reviews would lead one to believe that this place is going to blow your mind.talk about hype! Don't get your expectations too high or you will surely be disappointed.

All in all, I would most definitely visit the Indigo Athens again and again, and it is sure to be a major destination during football season. I did have room service on my first night and all was well - the food showed up hot, on time, and delivered with a smile. I was very surprised with the spaciousness of my guest room, the hardwood floors, the well-appointed bathroom and great shower and - very important - some of the best in-room coffee I have ever had! Very comfortable bed, super pillows and very plush towels after the shower - these are the things the business traveler notices. Beautifully designed, very friendly attentive staff, and well-appointed guest rooms.

It takes a great amount of pride in its GREEN rating, and it shows in the decor, the personality, and the openness of the spaces. From the time you enter the front lobby, it is clear this is a very different type of property. And GLAD I DID! This hotel is refreshing, unique and spacious. I knew the choices for decent hotels in Athens was limited, but I was a bit hesitant because I had not heard great things about the Indigo property in midtown Atlanta, where several former colleagues had stayed. One of my colleagues suggested staying at the Hotel Indigo. I had not been on an overnight visit to Athens for several years (except to attend a UGA football game during the day, being an alum), and had reason to be there for several days on business earlier this month.
